- Internal Medicine Chief Resident / Junior Faculty in Southwest Ohio

Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine (WSU BSOM) and Premier Health are seeking a dynamic and motivated Internal Medicine physician to join the Internal Medicine Division as a Junior Faculty member. This is a unique leadership position that offers the opportunity to work with medical students and internal medicine residents at a leading-edge health system recognized nationally for its excellence across numerous specialties.
Position Highlights:
- Educational Oversight: Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Internal Medicine core curriculum, including morning report and case-based learning sessions.
- Clinical Teaching: Direct daily Senior Openers and Noon Conferences, utilizing evidence-based medicine to foster critical thinking among residents and medical students.
- Simulation & Procedural Training: Help coordinate and frequently serve as a faculty lead for ACLS training and procedural competency sessions in the Simulation Centers.
- Regional Engagement: Serve as the faculty liaison for the Dayton Area Graduate Medical Education Community (DAGMEC) and coordinate the Ohio ACP Jeopardy team and regional conference participation.
- Attending Physician of Record: Serve as the Staff Attending on Inpatient Ward teaching services, providing clinical supervision and fostering graduated autonomy for resident-led teams.
- Outpatient Faculty Practice: Provide direct patient care and supervise learners in community-based clinical settings (e.g., Berry Health Center – IM Residency Clinic), tailored to the faculty member’s sub-specialty interests.
- Quality & Safety Leadership: Represent the Residency Program on the Peer Review and Root Cause Analysis committees, integrating systems-based practice into resident education.
- Research Mentorship: Act as a primary faculty advisor for resident scholarly activity, overseeing the development of abstracts, case reports, and manuscripts for regional and national publication.
- Academic Productivity: Personal scholarly projects to support future fellowship applications or academic positions.
- Professional Development: Provide structured mentorship and performance evaluations for medical students and residents, guiding their professional and clinical growth.
- Clinical Operations Management: Oversee the strategic development of resident schedules and team assignments to ensure optimal clinical workflow and ACGME compliance.
- Documentation & Compliance Mentorship: Provide oversight for medical record excellence, ensuring residents and students meet professional standards for clinical documentation and timely completion of records.
- GME Liaison: Monitor and report duty-hour trends and resident activity to the Program Director to ensure a healthy and compliant learning environment.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO Degree and Active Board Certification
- Must have or be eligible for Ohio medical license
- Completed ACGME Residency training with current ABMS Board Certification
